I have been interested in genealogy since the early 1980s. My paternal grandmother gave me her information on the family lines and encouraged me to keep up with the family - which I have. She would have been so excited to find the many family that I have been able to find via the internet and all its availability. I am President of the Grady County Historical Society, and was one of the editors of the "Cemeteries of Grady County, Georgia", compiled in 2006. Having been a member of the Society since 2000, I have served as President, Vice President, Secretary and an area representative for the Spence Community. I am also a member of the Mitchell County Genealogy Society, historian, beginning a project of adding information and photos to Find A Grave site of Mitchell County Cemeteries. I have gathered information and pictures and compiled a book on the history of the Spence community of Grady County - including its people, businesses, schools, and churches - "A Look At Times Past In Spence, Georgia" I have published a book on my maternal family line - "Branches, Leaves and Roots of the Henry Lee and Mary Melissa Johnston White Family" in August 2016. I have now published,as of November 2017, a book on my paternal family lines - "Beneath The Leaves - The Cooper - Hickey Family Story."
