I HAVE THREE IMPORTANT REQUESTS:

1. Do not add death certificates to my sites. In many instances the causes of death and the physician's comments (never intended for general public view) can be very hurtful for descendants and families. They are wonderful tools when working on genealogies, but are often riddled with errors and too-much-information.

2. Remember, pictures are copy-written. You are welcome to my gravestone/cemetery pictures, but PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR SOURCE. There are other members who also add pictures to my memorials. Click on their names to check on their policies. Most often, they just want acknowledgement as well.

3. If you find errors, know of family links, or have information that I might add, please let me know through Corrections & Additions edits. PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR INFORMATION WITH DOCUMENTATION.

Although, I have been interested in genealogy for more than 50 years, only in the past decade did I become aware of the truly fragile state of our ancestors' headstones and how important it is to preserve them, if only digitally, for future generations.

As information is being digitized and made public, we are learning more and more about those who went before us. The information is mostly good, but sometimes it is not. I think that we need to be judicious about what should be added to our memorial sites.

My purpose for placing memorials on Find A Grave is to honor and recognize these individuals from our past. I am not interested in volume added as most of the memorials that I create are connected with my (or my husband's) families; albeit sometimes they are quite distant.
