Bio

I grew up in Effingham County, Illinois, and have deep roots in this area on both sides of my family. "Six Sons to Carry My Casket: The Vonderheide Family in Shelby and Effingham County" was printed in 2022. This covers Anton "Tony" Vonderheide and his wife Kate Fromme and their seven children. It also includes Henry Fromme's immigration and family.
I published "By George! The Meyers of Green Creek, Illinois" in 2010. The Meyers are largely interred at St. Mary Help of Christians at Green Creek, rural Effingham County.
If you are researching surnames Vonderheide, Fromme, Jansen, Brummer, Schmidt, Doedtman or Meyer, I'd love to hear from you. E-mail awmitchellclan(AT)yahoo(DOT)com.
Please do not post scanned obit notices, death certificates or census reports as photos. The photo section is for tombstone or portraits of the person. I am happy to use that information in the bio section if you will kindly ask.
If you have a better image for any tombstone photo I have placed on this site, please let me know so I can remove mine rather than have duplicates. Sometimes I post images which are not great because I believe it is better than no image at all.
