I enjoy searching for family information. Most of my immediate ancestors are from McCracken and Marshall County Kentucky. With the surnames of Vannerson, Beyer, McCain and Bailey. |
I do not come from royalty (darn) but I do have a very famous ancestor, Julian Vannerson. He was a famous civil war photographer and many of the photos of General Lee in his uniform were taken by Julian.
On a side note... There is a photograph that has never been seen by the general public. Julian sent 3 photos home for safe keeping and one of them hung over the fireplace in the family home unfortunately it was stolen while the family was attending a funeral. If you have seen an original work of Julian Vannerson taken during the Civil War era and it's not in the history books there is a good chance this is the missing photo and the family would like to have it back where it belongs. Thank you.
I give of my time and resources because I love being able to help others find a missing piece of their family. I also love the format that Find A Grave provides. A FREE resource for family members to aid in their research and the ability to leave a message in memory of them.
The majority of the memorials I've added are not my family. When I went to a cemetery to fulfill a photo request I would often find many stones in the area with the same family name on them. I would photograph and post those as well if a memorial was not already made. It is my hope that it would help family members locate lost family members or aid in their research.
I became frustrated with a very large cemetery who would charge $5.00 per name to look up a burial plot. Thinking this was wrong and it should free to the public, I along with my husband set forth on a mission to document every grave in that cemetery and then turn my spreadsheets over to the historical society. He and I have spent weeks on this major project.
I will gladly transfer any of my memorials so they may be maintained by family members. I am honored to have had the opportunity to photograph and/or document a piece of family history for you and for future generations.
I have photographs for almost every memorial that I have created for Valhalla Cemetery and many, many more. We are talking thousands. I will be posting these throughout the spring and summer. Due to the large amount of photos I am posting them by sections and perhaps can fulfill some requests as I come across them. If you have made memorials for that cemetery please be aware that you may see an increase in family links and edits.

Would you check the photo that you put for this memorial. I believe that the one that you added is actually for his son George, also at Valhalla. :) . You took pictures of his parents-in-law (Charles and Frances Goble) at the same time which are in the location where he is. Thank you for double checking.
I would leave the picture, the dates are close, and my info comes from a book of interments from Valhalla. As her birth date is missing in the book, but her middle name is there, it wouldn't be the first time someone transcribed an I as a J or vice versa.

Well...I can solve some of the mystery
Iva Barnes married Cletus Richardson on 8/3/1912.
R. Ora Barnes - I'm not sure who this is. An obit will have to be obtained. Ora may be a brother of Iva.
Iva Barnes (01/20/1890 - 09/09/1986)
Cletus Richardson (05/09/1889 - 06/05/1972)
Parents for Cletus: Owen Adkins & Mary Caroline Hendrickson Richardson

From your bio it sounds like you are putting major effort on Valh. I also have done some on it. Maybe we can get together sometime. I have a lot of records on burials. Don't want to step on each others work. E-mail me.
|Uncle Bob||RE: The Sample Family photos|
I saw that you had fulfilled the original request, but I did not see memorials for the others as you stated. I did e-mail email@example.com
on Mar 10 and she replied by Mar 13 that she would enter the other Samples I mentioned seeing in the area of the original request. She did not say that you had informed her about any other Samples so I posted photos after she made records. Sorry for the confusion, but I did check with her 1st. Since you were original claimant I will take my photos off if that's what you want. Let me know which ones you had.
Thank you so much for the photo of Mary's headstone. I really appreciate all your efforts. Thanks again.
