I am glad to have a part in sharing information on this website. I believe we owe a debt to those who have lived before us, and part of that is repaid by not allowing them to fade from memory. Visiting so many cemeteries I am always saddened at the graves that are unadorned and seemingly forgotten. Those feelings inspired me to write the following. . .

I Will Remember

I know not how you came here –
only whether early in life or late.
Was your passing something expected,
or was the shock of it quite great?
Is there anyone left standing
who was witness to that day?
Or have they – along with the memories
they held of you - now all slipped away?
Although it's true that I never knew you,
And it's true that you never knew me -
I'll just stand here a quiet moment
hoping that somehow you will see.
Maybe I'm not a dear loved one
And it isn't quite the same - -
But I will pause to leave a small token
And I will remember your name.
