Bio

My full name is Leonard David Kennon III. I go by my middle name due to an unfortunate incident with my great-grandfather in 1909. My grandfather was four years old, going on five, and following his father's death, went to live with his grandfather along with a younger brother and mother. He's listed on the 1910 Newton Co GA federal census as David (grandfather's name was Leonard). The name Leonard comes from the Fretwell line, which joins the Kennon line at my great-great-great-grandparents (Meriwether L and Frances Fretwell Kennon).

I am a US Navy retired third-generation Chief Petty Officer who served 30 years in the naval air force. I am currently working as a contractor for the Navy specializing in the aviation maintenance environment.

My family lines are:
Kennon/Twiddy - (father/mother's maiden name)
Stewart/Thompson - mother's side (pat/mat)

My father's side consists mostly of English ancestry, going as far back as the early colonial days in Virginia, many were farmers, lawyers, judges, and representatives (such as House of Burgess in Virginia).

My mother's side consists of Scottish, English, and Cherokee ancestry (Cherokee on my grandmother's side).
