I have been interested in genealogy since I was a small child and wandered through old cemeteries in South Carolina and Georgia with my father who did major research on our family. As I spent most of my adult life in Europe my ability to follow on his work was limited. When I retired and returned to Beaufort, I found that opportunity. Taking pictures in Beaufort National Cemetery makes me feel particularly close to my parents who are buried there. Wandering through the small, out of the way cemeteries in Beaufort County makes me feel close to my childhood and the years of growing up in the Beaufort area.
