I have been doing genealogy for 30+ years. My daughter was studying family heritage in school and we realize we didn't know much about our family. The Clayton Library was on the news and talking about it being a genealogy library in Houston, Texas. I happened to live nearby so I started going and started finding out so much about both sides of our family. After 30+ years I have learned so much, met cousins I never knew existed and received family keepsakes like 2 original marriage licenses dated in the late 1800's from courthouses. Both look like brand new. We have visited places our family has lived, visited many many cemeteries and received pictures of family members that we never got to know and didn't even know existed. I am now in the DAR because of my grandfather Pendleton Isbell, also qualify for the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Daughters of the Confederacy. Because I am a 5 generation Texan, can't wait to join the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. My grandfather John R. Howard was born in Texas when it was the Republic of Texas. Never knew that before genealogy. Didn't even know his name. Absolutely love genealogy!!!! Ancestry.com has been the best thing for doing research. What I couldn't find at the library all these years, just popped up while researching ancestry.com Love those computers. Just now getting into findagrave.com and have found a lot here also. Having a great time.

Feel free to copy any pictures or information I have posted on findagrave.com. Also if you find any errors, let me know.
