Don't let the picture fool you. It was taken in 1959 for Senior Picture Day!|
In 1974 as a family, we started doing research on "Daddy's" side (all Cowles in USA are related - easy). Yes, I'm a Yankee, and all my family is up North, and I'm here in southwest Virginia. So, I'm trying to help the folks who aren't here, or who can't go to where their love ones are buried. I'VE MOVED BACK TO INDIANA AND AM LIVING IN STARKE COUNTY INDIANA (as of January 2013).
Because I don't drive anymore, I depend on my eldest daughter to aid me in grocery shopping, doctor's visit, etc. AND TOMBSTONING (that's what I call it)!
If anyone wants a memorial transfered to them, please let me know. You don't have to "prove it" like I see some people want you to do. Just let me know, and it'll be in your care!

When a request is listed for a specific person in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Oregon, I try to go through the directory and list everyone with the same last name, just in case they may be related. At least the information gets out there to everyone searching.

It is my pleasure to help. I have pictures of all Cowles' buried in Evergreen. I took them while the weather was clear, thinking you might want them. In addition to those already posted, I have the following:
Charles Moodey Cowles(1915-2004)
Mary B. (no dates - listed as Mary A. in the cemetery index)
George R. (no dates)
and a small child(ren) marker between George and Mary with the names "Mary / Georgianna", attributed to George and Mary Cowles in the cemetery index of known markers. There is no listing for this grave in the cemetery index of burials.
In the official cemetery index of burials, Anna L. Cowles' grave is listed in a different place than with W.T.'s, but that is where the marker is. So I do not know if she is buried with William or elsewhere with her marker being with his.
It is always interesting to see such details emerge.

I'll be back at the cemetery in the Spring. There was too much snow was to get decent photos. You can always delete the ones I posted until then.

Just thought you might like to know that he is related to Tom Buckmaster who went to grade school(at St. Paul's Lutheran in Ft. Wayne)with my brother, Robert Meyer.

I added the transcription. Aureila, his mother, was born in 1779 and died in 1825 - she was 46 when she died :)
How are you related? Aurelia and Bela are my 5th great-grandparents.

Thanks so much for the link to his parents.

Yes, the snow and cold weather makes the searching a little more difficult. Think spring! Glad I was able to find one of your requests.
