As TV's Aunt Martha Corrine Walton said, "Neglected graves are a shameful thing." I am respectful around all graves and clean up the weeds as best I can, repositioning fallen decorations, and placing flowers, pennies or a pretty pebble, especially for children and veterans. Speaking of prayer...........The Souls of the Faithfully Departed (also called Holy Souls) are members of the Church awaiting purification of their souls before joining the saints in heaven for all eternity. We can and ought to pray for them as an act of charity to hasten their entrance into heaven.

As we renew our faith in your Son, whom You raised from the dead, strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters will share in His Resurrection, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen."
