I have been interested in genealogy since about 1995. I live in Mount Airy, North Carolina. I believe this website to be a valuable tool to amateur and professional genealogists if used with the "trust but verify" mentality.|
I add memorials to cemeteries where I have personally walked and photographed each headstone/marker. If you find one of my memorials without a photo, please be patient. I am adding them as I can. If you would like for me to add it more quickly, please just go through the normal photo request option.
I do my best not to duplicate memorials. I index my photos and add the names as inscribed on the headstone/marker to the cemeteries in which I find them. I may edit that information later as I find additional data. I do not feel it necessary for me to arbitrarily delete a memorial that I created if you move a memorial into that cemetery after the fact and don't disclose that information. This is FIND a Grave.
If you have created a memorial and had it in a different cemetery or a virtual cemetery in lieu of finding the correct cemetery, simply say so and I will be happy to delete mine and add any photos I have to your memorial if needed.
My lines include the Killoughs (mostly Mississippi) and Wolfes (Tennessee and Texas) on my mother's side and Johnson's and Stancliff's (mostly from the Philadelphia/South Jersey areas).
My wife's lines include the Hiatt's that have been in the Surry County, NC area for about 200 years.
Feel free to use any of my photos.

Dear Mr. Johnson,
Thank you so much for memorializing my grandfather's grave. An interesting story . . . I travelled to Mr. Airy early in the 1990's and knew my grandfather was from there. I found the cemetery but could not find my grandfather's grave. I knew I was in the right cemetery because of his obituary. When I told my mother, Mary Ellen Pruitt, that I found many of her ancestors, but not her father, she made a trip in her later years and erecting his tombstone. However, my mother was in the early phase of the Alzheimer's disease that finally took her life. Therefore, although her father's name was "Fitzhugh Lee Pruitt", she misspelled it on his tombstone. People looking for him will not find him listed under his misspelled name. I have two requests. Could you transfer handling of this memorial page to me? Or, could you please list him under his correct name and make a short explanation on his page? Thank you so very much!!!

Wanted to thank you for posting the graves of Nathan and Ferebee Seabolt Lewis. They were my greatgreat grandparents. Have been researching my Lewis family for a long time and it is a common name and hard to pinpoint relatives sometimes. Your posting helped me a great deal.
Thank you again

|Martha Powers||Sam CHAMBERS Patterson|
Hi, William Johnson, it is Martha Lou Patterson Powers, again. You are more than welcome to add pictures on my Patterson's from my public tree. Noticed you added one on Raymond Columbus Patterson. By the way, I have the actual Bible of Joseph Wilson Patterson, pictures from Minnie Pearl Riggs Patterson's home personal Bible and Sam Patterson --- the brother of my Grandfather, Millard Franklin Patterson. His Middle name is CHAMBERS!!!! A MISCONCEPTION FOREVER. It was in the Joseph Wilson Patterson Bible and please feel happy to take the picture from my Sam Chambers Patterson profile from ancestry and attach it to correct his name --- would be wonderful to have as much correct information as possible. I have only been spoon fed by Find A Grave copying the pictures and giving proper credit but since this is my family would kindly request that you TRANSFER this family to my care.
Wondering if you would kindly release to me your copyright pictures on Find A Grave memorial 84768317 and Find A Grave 84766894 Monnie Reid Tucker and Jack Dennis Tucker. If you will look at my tree, you will see I am over the top always giving you proper credit. Thank you always, for all that you do for me every single day of my life. You will be blessed.

Thank you for posting the gravesite of my grand parents! You have no idea how happy that made me to see the headstone. You are a special angel to me.
