Death is only physical for the redeemed. Where will you be in 50 yrs, 60 yrs, 100 yrs.?I picked up a new hobby. I photograph tombstones for people who are researching a genealogy. After a couple of weeks walking through cemeteries I began to notice the neglected graves. Many of these neglected graves say "MOTHER" or "FATHER" ...followed by their names, dates of birth and death. I see many graves from the 1920s that have no flowers, no sign of anyone tending it. Weeds growing around it, ants or some other animal or insect has burrowed under the tombstone and it is tilted. I read their names and think how the parents of "MOTHER" or "FATHER" shed tears of joy at their birth and how their children shed tears of sorrow at their death. They were typical persons. While young they felt immortal, life would last forever as a youth. They felt indestructible. Then they aged and suddenly found themselves past their youth, health failing, their mortality became evident. "MOTHER" and "FATHER" passed away and the children wept in their loss. Life goes on and they tell stories to their children and grandchildren. They begin by saying, "remember when "MOTHER" "FATHER"…" did this or that or said something amusing or a word of wisdom? But now even their children are passed away and the new generation feels immortal and indestructible, with no need to go to a cemetery. Even the place where "MOTHER" or "FATHER" are buried may no longer be remembered. No more tears of joy nor tears of weeping, no more stories of, "remember when….". We also will one day be where "MOTHER" and "FATHER" are, a tombstone that leans and no one remembering where we were buried. This life is nothing more than a breath of air, a puff of smoke, vapor that dissipates quickly and is soon forgotten. Christ was killed 2000 yrs ago. Stories of His are still told, he is still quoted. Why? Because He rose from the dead and lives forever. He died to pay my debt. Even when the world forgets me, Christ still knows me.Any duplicate entries, that I may have created, are unintentional.
