Awwww. Thank you so much. Made my day. I love my boys in grey and blue. Working and researching and I always have to leave a flower or a flag. Again, thank you for the kind words.
|Tom Hintz||RE: Ledbetter|
Ken has Lola Nancey Ledbetter, b. 1900, daug. of George Melton Dallas Ledbetter, son of Benjamin, son of Buckner, son of Arthur Ledbetter. 'Milton' makes more sense. He lists 10 children for George and a few families beyond for some of them. 3 children are listed for Lola.
James Calvin Ledbetter is son of Levi, son of Aaron, son of Buckner, son of Arthur. There are two cousins with the name James Calvin so researchers need to be careful. Anyway, your connection with us is Buckner. You're right, it's a little distant.
James died West of Burksville, KY and the family scattered. One son settled in Westfield, IL and you'll find his mother, Sarah Jane Long Ledbetter buried there in the Maple Hill cemetery.
So, yes you are a cousin. Both the line of George Ledbetter and Julia Howard, and my wife's line of James Calvin Ledbetter descend from Authur Ledbetter. If you own a copy of Ledbetters Revisited these would be 10BA and 10BP respectively. Both lines really trace to Overton Co, TN.

Thank you so much for sponsoring this memorial. I have transferred it to you: since you care enough to sponsor the memorial, I know how much the memorial means to you. My job is done. One of my goals on Find a Grave is to ascertain that descendants of American Revolution Patriots realize the importance of the role their ancestors played in the history of our country. I am especially happy when I can present that information to a descendant of one of the Heroes who fought at the Battle of King's Mountain.
Our history is intertwined: I find it amazing that our ancestors knew each other. I don't know how familiar you are with the Battle of King's Mountain. After the battle, the Patriots had to leave hurriedly, because Cornwallis was not far away and they were afraid he would retaliate, so they decided to take the POW's and retire to the farm of Colonel John Walker. A large number of the participants stayed at the farm for two days and nights before the long trip home. This is documented by Governor Shelby in the book he wrote with Lyman C. Draper, King's Mountain and Its Heroes... Colonel John Walker was my 6XGGF, so it is very possible that your ancestor stayed at the farm of my ancestor - amazing, that you and I met electronically.
Parenthetically, I married three weeks ago: two of my husband's direct ancestors and six of his GGU's fought at the Battle of King's Mountain as well. While I grew up in Spartanburg, SC, less than 40 miles from the battleground, my husband grew up in Alabama, and then we met on the Mississippi Coast where I moved after living in Mexico for several years. I am amazed how we all touch each other's lives two hundred and thirty four years later.
Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness.

I am so glad you found this site: it is one of my favorites. If you would like to, write me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will give you any information I have on your family. It is not much, because it is not my line, but you are certainly welcome to it.

LeeAnne, you are so very welcome.
Children have a special place in my heart, and it is with so much love that I visited your Baby and so many other children, it is so sad to see so many that passed away.
My Mother lost a Daughter at 3 years old, I never meet her, as she was born before me, and I wish I had a big sister, but she's loved so much by me.
Take care sweet friend.
Love , Liberty
