Can relate to that...we'll always remember those "special" people in our lives. I'm glad for your happy memories! Thanks, again.

I'm glad you found the photos! I just added a another of the corridor to each memorial and also provided a link as husband/wife. I am transferring management to you. Let me know if there's any more I can help you with. Thanks for the email.

Thank you so much for sponsoring this memorial. I have transferred it to you: since you care enough to sponsor the memorial, I know how much the memorial means to you. My job is done. One of my goals on Find a Grave is to ascertain that descendants of American Revolution Patriots realize the importance of the role their ancestors played in the history of our country. I am especially happy when I can present that information to a descendant of one of the Heroes who fought at the Battle of King's Mountain.

Our history is intertwined: I find it amazing that our ancestors knew each other. I don't know how familiar you are with the Battle of King's Mountain. After the battle, the Patriots had to leave hurriedly, because Cornwallis was not far away and they were afraid he would retaliate, so they decided to take the POW's and retire to the farm of Colonel John Walker. A large number of the participants stayed at the farm for two days and nights before the long trip home. This is documented by Governor Shelby in the book he wrote with Lyman C. Draper, King's Mountain and Its Heroes... Colonel John Walker was my 6XGGF, so it is very possible that your ancestor stayed at the farm of my ancestor - amazing, that you and I met electronically.

Parenthetically, I married three weeks ago: two of my husband's direct ancestors and six of his GGU's fought at the Battle of King's Mountain as well. While I grew up in Spartanburg, SC, less than 40 miles from the battleground, my husband grew up in Alabama, and then we met on the Mississippi Coast where I moved after living in Mexico for several years. I am amazed how we all touch each other's lives two hundred and thirty four years later.

Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness.

LeeAnne -

I am so glad you found this site: it is one of my favorites. If you would like to, write me at vonniecantrell@yahoo.com and I will give you any information I have on your family. It is not much, because it is not my line, but you are certainly welcome to it.
