I decided to sign up to photograph headstones after a very nice man in Bisbee, Arizona volunteered his time to find information about my great-grandmother and photograph her grave for me. Unfortunately, she did not have a headstone, but that information was still very important to me. She had died rather young in childbirth, orphaned my grandfather, and much of the family information had been lost.

When I do go out to photograph, my husband comes along to help out. It's a lot of fun for us to find these burial stones and learn a little bit about the people's lives they represent. Sometimes I'll photograph other aspects of the headstones and surrounding area. Contact me if you'd like those pictures as well.

I'm a strong believer in making the lives of our ancestors count, and carrying them with us into the future.
