Bio

I have been working on my family genealogy only since the spring of 2010. I wish I had started decades ago when I would have been able to gain first-hand information from my parents and grandparents. Now I only have bits and pieces of first-hand information to build on. I have discovered more than I ever thought possible.

I am working on my New York paternal side: Wightwick, Collins, Thornton, Dolan, Sweeney, O'Mahoney.

Also my Mississippi maternal side: Barlow, McWilliams, Thompson, Shepherd, O'Neal, Guynes, Quin, Green, Perryman, Beeson/Beason, Dalrymple and BEYOND. Based on mitochondrial DNA, I have been able to add Diamond, Jones, and possibly Smith to my direct female line.

My husband, Joe, is now interested in finding his ancestors, since I have done a lot of research on his side of the family. That side starts with Richards & Ward in Alabama. It includes: West, Ray, Guy, Hart, Daniels, Parker, Jones, Stuart (or Stewart) and others to be discovered.

Joe will now share this site with me, so that we can work together. I have found Houston County in Alabama to be a treasure chest of information. Other researchers there are the most helpful and are probably related, too.

We also enjoy visiting other cemeteries to take pictures and help others with their family search. We live in Douglas County, GA, so if anyone needs assistance nearby, just contact us.

WE HAVE ADDED MEMORIALS THAT ARE NOT RELATED TO US. We visit cemeteries to take volunteer photos and sometimes add other photos and memorials. We do this especially for family names that we are related to. If you find a memorial that is a direct ancestor or a close family member, you may request a transfer to you. We will do this if you make the request through the edit function, suggest a correction, give your contributor #, and tell us how you are related. We will transfer the memorial if we are not also related.

PLEASE NOTE: The McWilliams Family in Clifton Methodist Churchyard in Panthersville, GA. and family members linked to them have NO KNOWN RELATIONSHIP WITH US. Their son, George W. McWilliams IS NOT the George W. McWilliams whom Linda is descended from.

PHOTOS WE TAKE MAY BE USED FOR FAMILY OR GENEALOGY PURPOSES ONLY (NO COMMERCIAL USE.) WE WOULD APPRECIATE JUST SHOWING ON THE PHOTO "COURTESY OF LINDA & JOE RICHARDS." As other photo volunteers know, finding these cemeteries and the graves in them is time-consuming and hard work, as well as the process of adding them to findagrave; therefore, just acknowledge that we provided them. Thank you.
