Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and brought up in Wales but now live in Lincoln England. I started genealogy in 2002 and now have my family back to 18c. I stumbled across this site whilst tracing American relatives and found lots of help and information.
Through the findagrave forum I'm involved in projects to leave flowers on all memorials that don't currently have any, please don't assume I'm a relative because I left a flower or sponsored a memorial and please don't transfer without asking.

Please make yourself aware of the Frequently Asked Questions - Site Rules. Note the naming section with instructions for use on memorials #147. (Prefixes & Suffixes in the name fields are not allowed and mess up the search engine from working properly.) This site covers World Wide cemetery and burial information, some choices offered for Prefixes and Suffixes (Prefixes/Suffixes/Military Information)#148 might not match exactly your countries customs. The last name field should not be left empty as the search engine requires a query by last name. Other characters like *, --, (), {}, ~, ..., ?, "" or numerals, are not allowed in the name fields as they are not recognized by the search engine making the name un-searchable. Maiden names are automatically italicized. The naming rules (not Guidelines) exist for good reasons. LOTS of good reasons. Titles of any kind are not allowed in any name field. Within the new Edit system if you get a request with "Unknown" in RED within a field, then that field would be empty. (It will not put the word Unknown in that field.)

Thanks for notifying me of duplicate. I had entered all the names appearing in WWI memorial and missed that one.

RE: Airey Neave, again
Thanks Daff!
And I keep wanting to tell you we had a Daf in my Welsh family. I can just barely remember him from childhood visits in the fifties to our aunties' house at Horeb, outside Five Roads, just beyond Llanelli.

Airey Neave, again
Got some advice from KenG, who has had success with a number of famous requests, then did some reworking and submitted again. Might you care to vote one more time please?

Thanks, Daff, for always remembering my dad. The tokens you leave always mean so much.

Grave of John & Marguarite Frizell
Many thanks for uploading this grave in the first instance. It was very kind of you. Both myself and my mother (John & Marguarite Frizell's only child) will be visiting the grave very soon for the first time in a long while and will be replacing the virtual flowers with real ones this time. For your time and effort in recording this and all the other memorials you have made the time and effort to record, we thank you. All our very best wishes, Tony Cooper.

Acker Bilk
Daff, I was so pleased to see your famous obit for Acker Bilk, right after I'd sent you the note about Airey Neave. I too have done just one famous obit on Find a Grave, and although I've not heard anything of Acker Bilk in many years, he certainly did touch my life when I was a kid with a clarinet. Airey Neave is back in my mind of late due to the book the Shelburne Escape Line. It was his role in London's "Room 900" which ran the Shelburne Line rescuing downed aviators from occupied France. I think this may not have been widely known at the time of his murder. --Edwin

Ranks in front of First name
Although I appreciate your edits regarding putting the rank in front of the Forename, also your friends, as a Military Historian, the rank comes before the name, me myself being an ex "sapper", unless findagrave choose not to include prefixes to include English ranks such as "Sapper and or Gunner", also Pte and not Pvt. I shall continue to do so. I hope you take this message in the way it is meant. Regards Allan. If you can get the options changed Ie: to include Sapper/ Gunner/Pte.

Thanks for the corrections you have sent regarding ranks in first names - it drives me nuts when people do that! The ones you have sent me corrections on are actually ones that I requested someone transfer to me because the photos are so bad and we like to do bios for the military - they deserve that at the very least. We haven't been able to get back to them since they were transferred (over 100) but we will clean them all up some day! Thanks again - becca
