Doug Young Tammy, Its great to hear from you. I cant believe its been 10 years since we lost Doug, I bet he would be proud of his beautiful young women.
Doug, Chris, and I took our first volunteer fire class together at Stark State back in 1996ish (maybe 97, cant remember the exact dates). The two of them made that class so enjoyable. Doug was such a great guy, he always made us laugh. He was as strong as an ox, I'm pretty sure he could pick Chris and I up, throw both of us over his shoulders and and carry us out of a burning building. He knew his job well. I never got a chance to work with him since I work at Uniontown and he was at Springfield (and Coventry too?), but I would have have loved to work with him some day.
I attended his funeral with one of Uniontown's trucks, it was such a sad day, but at the same time I was so proud of the huge support from all of his "brothers" that day. There were more fire trucks than the eye could see, they came from everywhere to support you and your family and I was so honored to be a part of it.
I just want you and the girls to know that I have visited his grave site once a year since he died, and was honored to be able to create his Findagrave memorial. If there is anything you would like me to add, or if there are family links that I can add let me know. Do you have a picture of him in gear or uniform that I can add? I hope and your family are doing well.
