Bio

Good day and welcome,

I am a 42nd g-grandaughter of St. Begga and therefore also a descendant of her g-g-g-grandson, Emperor Charlemagne.

My primary recent ancestry is ½ Dutch (my father's side), ¼ Swedish on my Mother's father's side, the rest being one branch split in two, both being very similar -primarily Irish, Scottish and Welsh.

The only ones I've been able to find much on are on that split branch on my mother's side because many of them were royalty/nobility and better records were kept. The primary names in this are Irving (& the other 250+ spellings)and Lay. Unfortunately quite lacking in female information for the most part unless they were nobles of some sort.

On the Lay side, I am an 8th great grandaughter of John and Priscilla Mullins Alden of the Mayflower. A 30th ggd of King Malcolm II of Scotland, 34th ggd of King Alfred the Great, 37th ggd of Louis I Pious Emperor of Holy Roman Empire and wife Queen Judith of Bavaria, 24th ggd of King Henry II & Eleanor of Aquitaine, 23rd ggd of King John & Isabella, also 24th ggd of Henry II by one of his mistresses.
Also - Henry I, William the Conqueror, Henry III, King Edward I, Queen Matilda, a 9th & 10th cousin once removed to Princess Diana, cousin to Kurt Cobain, John Adams & John Quincy Adams etc.

Other than genealogy, I enjoy many kinds of music, movies, plays, travel, my puppy Lily, my friends - most of whom are by Internet now. I especially love corresponding with people from other countries and any potential relatives no matter how distant.

My primary interest lies in my great-great-grandfather and his ancestors from Ireland, primarily County Tyrone and those who came long before and were part of the High Kings and Dal Riata which moved some to Scotland for many centuries.

But I love it all. So fascinating. Had I only known when studying as a child that I was a descendant of these people, it would have been wonderful.
