I am an amateur genealogist, interested in family history, and history in general. The primary line that I follow is the West family of the Cape Fear Valley in North Carolina. I am related to the Wests through my maternal grandmother. Other lines I follow are: Hair, Holder, Glover, Ochs, and Gabbard - and many more. Unfortunately I live in Florida and far from my home state of NC so I have to make the most of any trips which are few and far between. The rest of the time, I do the best I can online and in libraries - and I've found that you can accomplish quite a bit that way these days. I prefer to back up each entry and date in my lines with documentation, and grave markers are part of that process in addition to census, marriage, and other records.
