I'm a lifelong Louisvillian, of German descent on both sides. Family names of my direct ancestors include: Schickel, Gast, Christman, Papport, Kroeger, Hoffmann, Remmers, Schehr, and Ruffra. I spend a good deal of time on Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org, and surfing the online Historic Newspapers of the Louisville Free Public Library. Great resources for both Louisville, and Cincinnati papers, absolutely free. Before I know of Findagrave, I thought I was the only cemetery troller. It's been great learning more about the history of our area, and its German immigrants, while meeting cousins along the way.
