I have been documenting the cemeteries in Iowa county, Iowa and helping families find their relatives. I have photographed most of the cemeteries here and I am still working on adding the photos to memorials, and/or creating ones that do not have one in hopes of their family finding them.|

Unfortunately, all I have is a date, 19 Feb 1891. The child was unnamed and died at birth. Probably either buried with the mother (died in childbirth) or one of the undated ones in the children's area.

You have posted a photo of the marker for Friederika Braunschweig (Find A Grave Memorial# 76084810) in Amana Cemetery. Would there perchance be a small UNKNOWN marker to either side of her? I ask because the way I understand it, Amana buried people as they died and not in family groups. Friederika was my great grandmother, and she supposedly died in childbirth on 19 Feb, 1891. The male child died as well on the same day. If so, it would be logical for them to be buried along side each other.

Hello, I was just going through my old e-mails and came across a couple years back you had been unable to fill a request in Oak Hill in Benton for William Chown as he is not listed in the cemetery. His obituary states burial in Oak Hill, so I am under the assumption that maybe he is unmarked? I wish I had more info, and it is troubling that he isn't listed in cemetery records.

Dawn - Just cleaning up & I found two duplicate memorials in Amana. As they were established earlier, you might want to delete yours. Thank you so much for contributing so many wonderful photos. Kathy

Hello! I do believe you have the wrong gravestone picture for Emaline Bendorf memorial. Are you able to take the correct photo for Emaline Bendorf and post it to her memorial, number 75991207? Thank you.

Thanks for having this picture put here!! I've connected some dots and found her parents and the rest of her family. She was the only child of Silas Charles and Mary Evaline Blake Rector that wasn't linked to them. I remember seeing the name Helen Rector in all my family stuff, but couldn't connect it until tonight. Mary, her mother, is George Blake's daughter, and Helen, his granddaughter! Yeah! Now, hopefully, we can get them connected as I sent in an edit. George Blake is who the Blake Cemetery in Poweshiek Co., IA is named after.

Just out of curiosity, do you know if there is a George Blake tombstone in Blake Cemetery in Poweshiek Co., IA? I see the ones for Zachary Taylor Blake and Virginia Blake, but didn't see one for George. Didn't know if it just wasn't there or if it is unreadable. Let me know if you can shed some light on this for me. Thanks!

It it isn't too much of a bother, I would be interested in what records the local township commission has on his service records. The only records I can find for a Michael Pletcher who served are for a Michael Pletcher who served in Co. C, 198th Ohio with widow Huldah, Michael H. Pletcher who served in Company C 67th PA Infantry with widow Sarah E. or C. who collected as widow starting in June1863, and Michael Pletcher who served in Companies I and K, 161st Ohio Infantry National Guard. The first two seem unlikely, but I supposed National Guard duty would be possible for a man in his 60's.
