Bio

I enjoy gardening, blowing bubbles on rainy grass, playing cello, reading good mysteries, discovering fun rocks and shells and other "gems," eating good food, and trying old recipes. I like finding graves that link to my history and to help others link to their histories.

Due to web catchers...my email is mdaberk71 at gmail(dot)com

I am searching for a gravestone of Ernest Schweizer. Born 1882 Switzerland, died April 19 1907. Suicide in a barn on the August Boettcher place west of Silver Creek, Nebraska. According to Columbus, NE paper, buried in Clarks, NE (not in Calvary but in the public side of the Clarks cemetery.) NO record of his death in the books there. Any leads appreciated.

Also searching for wife of A. Kumetz or August Kummetz from Germany grave site. A.Kumetz was buried in a paupers grave in Pierce, NE. Discovered in death records, a new stone is placed there. I have not found his wife nor one of his sons, Otto Kummetz, however. They came to Nebraska before 1870 and are listed on my ancestry.com site. I would like any information on Kummetz families possible. They may have been Jewish at one time, the mother may have gone back to Germany or died on the way back home before 1916 when August died while on horseback in a snowstorm. They rented farms and owned no land in Nebraska around the Albion to Monroe, to Columbus, Linwood, Nebraska areas.
