I have been retired since 2008 and recently started tracing the family roots. I love to do research on the Seals, Claiborne, and Leach, families and all their branches in upper East Tennessee, more specifically in Campbell and Claiborne Counties. I am also doing research on the Marcus, Payne, and Trenary families and all their branches in the Shenandoah Valley, including Clarke, Fauquier, and Loudoun counties.
RE: Samuel (C) Jones It was a fantastic day, 72 and bright sunny. I took a ton of pics. Some that are already on the site can't even be read. I even drove into town for lunch then back out there to catch the stones when the sun broke over high noon. I was able to get some that don't have entries at all, and several that had no photos. Spring has sprung!
RE: Samuel (C) Jones Ok, I see what you were replying to. Since I didn't get an answer this morning (which is fine) I went to the cemetery to see who all was buried on that lot with Samuel (no C) and Mary. Actually I am still here.
RE: Seals/Pleasant Seals Thomas Jesse Seals Was my great grandfather his daughter Eliza Seals Barnard was my grandmother. Some of my information on the family comes from my mother she is 84 and the last living child of Eliza Seals Barnard. JB
Franklin P. Marquis Thanks for the correction for Franklin P. Marquis. I have a copy of the death certificate, and my database has the correct dates. I'm not sure how I missed the date on the Find A Grave memorial.
Have you found a connection between Marquis and Marcus?
RE: Ida Mae Ratliff Yes, she was my grandmother and thanks for making the edits. She had twelve children by two husbands. Only one of her children is still living. One or two died in infancy. I hope to eventually learn where each was buried and link them to her on Find A Grave. I think all but one of her children died in Claiborne or Hamblen County. I really appreciate the efforts of contributors like you who help make it possible to learn more about our kin. -BBowers
