(Note) I am sorry I have had to turn off messages because of someone who is on Find A Grave who is mentally unbalanced and sends obscene and harassing messages. I really wish we had a way to block people on here who just want to wreak havoc but we don't. Too bad.

Retired educator. 40+ years researching and documenting for my family and others.

** Allow me to share why it is important to go ahead and link to "burial unknown". This is an important genealogical site. People need to see links. I myself have diligently searched for graves. Sometimes I know the vicinity where they died and were buried but there simply is no record for cemetery ( or other) burial. It just does not exist. THAT IS IMPORTANT INFO AS WELL. It can bring closure to know the burial place is not known. So, in " finding a grave", families need to know if there is not one findable. Family links still need to be made. People deserve to be linked to their loved ones. We can add notes saying " we think they may have been buried here" or " they died in such and such a place so they had to be buried nearby". This is better than not even having a memorial! Everyone deserves a memorial. Some people died in war long ago and their dispositions are not known. Please don't rob families of connection just because it cannot be known where they are resting exactly! It makes no sense. PLEASE NOTE FIND A GRAVE DOES ACKNOWLEDGE THERE ARE SOME DISPOSITIONS THAT CANNOT BE KNOWN AND IT IS OK TO DESIGNATE WITH THAT AFTER THOROUGH RESEARCH.

(P.S. I don't mind death certificates at all as long as they are more than 40 years old. I am always glad to see them when I researching here. They are useful genealogy tools and they are NOT against Find a Grave policy. I do understand if they are recent it can be difficult for family to see those posted so I am all for honoring their wishes - common sense and good documentation, mixed with empathy is a my rule).

Visiting here makes us mindful that we all are mortal....and IMMORTAL. God created us to live with Him forever. Sin separates us from Him, but Jesus Christ came that we might have life and have it more abundantly! Receive His love and grace. He paid for our sin on the cross that we might live with him forever. This is why visiting my loved ones memorials on here gives me great joy and hope- what a great reunion for those who have died in the faith! One day, I'll be part of the church triumphant!
