I'm Don Edwards and from Texas currently living in Shreveport, La. I have been researching Edwards, Nunley, Whitlock, McCord and Kuykendall for my family. It is a very satisfying experience to know about our forefathers and I am humbled to know it was not so easy to do the many things back then as it is today. I wish our nation would appreciate the hard work and dedication it took to make America what it is today. Find-A-Grave and Ancestry are an intrical part of my research. I consider it a privilege, whether related or not, to honor our past in this way. If there is anything I can do to help anyone with questions about the memorials feel free to ask and if I can help I will be happy to. Wishing everyone happy hunting . If you are a contributor and have a request or correction please use the proper method to notify me. That is through the "Edit" button. Doing this work I do find that I occasionally make mistakes and also accidently make duplicates. I always welcome these corrections. Find-A-Grave is growing, every day, every minute. It is a wonderful way to record our past. Please help make and keep it that way. Thank you.
RE: Prairie Haven It's not the length of time a request is there that is upsetting. It's having an old request fake filled with a photo of a cemetery sign instead of a headstone that is frustrating. There's apparently some disagreement about whether the cemetery and memorial park are same or separate places. Ignored in whatever is going on, are people who would like to see a headstone they cannot visit who instead get an extra cemetery photo taking up one of the photo slots.
BOOKER TRANSFERS Thank you so very kindly for these transfers. I'm working on the corrections and getting the family circle together. I'm missing a set of twins! Your work is so very valuable. Kindest Regards, Nancy #48149695
RE: Fannie Boswell #82293835 Thank you so much for all the information! I have been super busy the last 6 months and haven't had any free time to work on anything. Your message inspired me to try again to unravel this. I'm snowed in so I've been on the computer all day. I have found some information about Rutha. And more questions of course. I have found that her full name was Rutha Artisha Martin. Date of birth April 15, 1893. Her parents were Milton Martin and Nancy Blackston. Milton is on Find A Grave. Number #12962544. I found all this on the Hueytown Historical Society under family histories. Milton's parents were George Cox and Laura Martin. They didn't marry until 1876 so he his not the biological father of the first two children. Laura's parents were Lorenzo Martin and Sarah Parsons The question is this: What is Milton's middle initial? His tombstone says "M" but Hueytown says "D". I have sent a message to Hueytown so hopefully I will hear something back soon. I know this is a lot of information. If you would like to see it better, just go to www.hueytown.org./historical. Look under the Lorenzo Dow Martin descendants, pages 1-6.
Can you do the updates to Rutha's memorial (#82376103)? and the link to her father's is #12962544. Thank you!
Dora Snow Dm, First I would like to say that I agree with your mission statement completely. I've been trying to get as much information on a Mary Etta "Foster" Hannah as I can and part of my research has had me looking at Darkie "Franklin" Myrex who is actually Dora Snow's mother. I don't mean to dispute your research but in the 1900 census Dark Mixix is listed as Mother In-law with Dora, William and Dorie "Dovie" snow then in 1910 it's Dark Myrex listed as Mother In-law living with Dora, William and Dovie Snow in 1920 she was listed as "maiden name" Franklin then Marks Mother In-law living with Dora & Will Snow. Dovie would have been married then. Again, I sorry to dispute your research but I thought you should know. Back to Mary Etta "Foster" Hannah! Thanks, Ken Marks
Fannie Boswell #82293835 Hello again. I'm sorry to bother you but my family seems to have a mystery concerning Fannie Boswell. She is listed as my grandfather's (John Murphy Marcum #826699431) mother on his death certificate. But when we look at his father (John Henry Marcum #82376140) his spouse is listed as Ruth Watts Marcum (#82376103). My older sisters remember that the Boswell brothers (Liston, Lee, Oscar and Willie) were half-brothers. If they were half-brothers they should all be older or younger than my grandfather, but he is in between. We can't seem to find any living Boswells around Brookwood anymore. You created all their memorials - do you have a personal connection to Friendship Cemetery? Any ideas for us? You are really good at this genealogy research. If you can give us some advice we would appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Michelle Brown
