OH. How I wished I had a phone number for you.
I am getting chills just writing this.
|obsessive journey||RE: LORA BELLE KURTZ|
I always hate having to admit I am unrelated, but sadly it is the truth. Can I be related in spirit? I can't remember how I became interested in Lora and her family. It was probably through Samuel Britton, her b-i-law. I found the death information about Havert. I was thinking about driving over to Collinsville, since I want to know where he was laid to rest. I didn't know about William.
I spent a significant portion of my morning searching for Dessie. Someone on Ancestry says she died in 1996 or so in Florida, but I couldn't find any proof other than a Findagrave memorial. Since Dessie disappeared after the 1930 census, I suspected she had died.
A lot of I statements. LOL. I searched for Dessie Gowan and couldn't find anything. I have access to three newspaper databases and they can be quite helpful. I have been unable to figure out when Harry/Henry died. I'll search for him under Harry and see if that leads me to them.
I did find a Leonard Gowan in East St. Louis. He had a daughter named Carol. The newspaper article I found about him, was not too flattering. Do you know if Dessie had any kids?
I see you are in Missouri? Whereabouts?
Mildred was Mildred Johnson in 1944
Lee in 1966, 1967, and 1970.
1970 she lived in "Madison, Illinois." I looked up the location of Madison and it is near Granite City. Too bad I didn't know about this last week, I was just in Granite City. Road trip.
Do you know if Mildred had any kids. A son named Billy perhaps? I found a Mildred Johnson from Chicago who had a son named Billy. She was in Chicago with her husband in 1930 and by 1940, she and Billy were in California.
Stay in touch.

All of those caps really got my attention. LOL
I omitted to add Belle out of my absent-mindedness, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.
My interest in the family is through Lura. She was married to Harry George Britton. I think she died in Tucson, but I can't find an obit or a death record.
Harry and Lura moved with Harry's brother to Tucson and the three lived together until Sam's death.
If you want any other info, let me know.

You're very welcome, Sandy.
While I was at the church, I also took a picture of Ruth Lauer's page. If you need it, it's ready for you.
