|Am a White family researcher, for our Robert White Sr 1743-1843 of Union Co SC. Have been on the trail since mid 1990's. And travelled to many places where our ancestors migrated. Have done extensive research on all of the surviving children of Robt Sr, and many of the allied families of each. |
The memorials I am managing are all related to our lineage.
Feel free to email me about our family. If you are related to some of our memorials, and would like a transfer, or update, let me know, and your relationship, will be glad to satisfy your request.
Our White family married into many of the old families of Union and Spartanburg Co SC, migrating to GA, AL, MS, TX and beyond. My Elias White settled in Bowie County Texas in 1846, and the descendants, number into the many hundreds, today. Getting them represented on Find A Grave, and linked is a goal of mine...
In the process my hope, is that we can spark an interest in our family research, and we can all help each other, expand our family tree's.

I will attach it to her memorial at Ebenezer where she is buried, before the end of today.
|Del Groves||Mary J Tomkins #77838173|
I am not related. Became aware of her while looking for info on Ms. Mordala D 'Maude' (Huntsman) Wills #27700946. Apparently, Mordala's parents were William Cheatham Huntsman and Minerva Dillard. They disappeared before the 1870 census and daughter Mordala, age 11 was with widow Mary "Thomkins" in 1870 TX Huntsville, Walker Co. along with siblings Louisa, 9 and Margaret, 8.
Here is gen forum posts that will give you some info on this Mary. Good luck!

Regarding the above Kennington, you indicate he is living with Michell Porter and Mary Parilee Letcher Harrison in the 1930 Census of Bowie Co., TX. You state, “It is my guess he is the son of one of the Harrison daughters that may have passed away?”
You undoubtedly saw it, but just in case I wanted to remind you the census unequivocally states Richard Earl Kennington is the “Grandson” of Michell Porter Harrison.
Good Hunting and thanks so much for the great job you are doing!!

If I have any other memorials of your family, please let me know. I have been battling health issues for a couple of years and am just now able to get back into the swing of things. I apologize for the tardiness of the transfer you requested. I also have Whites in my tree. Thanks so much!
Do you have the book "Bobo Cousins By The Dozen" by
Herbert M. Newell, Jr. and Jeanie Patterson Newell in 1968.
|Wylodean Edwards||RE: John L Fowler Memorial|
Hi Mike, My father used to own the family Bible
with the birthday info in it, but unfortunately, it was destroyed by a house fire when I was small.
On the census 1860 his post office address is Crosskeys, SC. Probable where he met Miriam Rebecca.
I had heard thru the family that Nathaniel was a minister but on the census it always has farmer as his occupation. Why he went to Indiana is only a guess, think he had a brother there.
Do you know if any photos of Miriam is around?
I have one of her as an old lady with her granddaughter Sylvia standing by her. It looks like she is a teenager, so it might be that when she returned to Attala County to see her daughter and son by first marriage. The next trip I make to Jackson, MS I will go by the archives and see if I can find her death certificate, then will know for sure if she died here and maybe it will have the cemetery where she is buried.
Her Fowler son and daughter are both buried in Seneasha cemetery in Attala County, MS. James Henry Fowler b 13 May 1860, d. 13 Dec 1926, married Sallie Elizabeth Burrell. Rebecca Jane Fowler b. 07 Apr 1862, d. 23 Sep 1923 married John Robert Burrell, my grandparents.
Thanks for all you do.
|Wylodean Edwards||RE: Mary Rebecca Fowler Williams|
Mike, John L. Fowler was in 2nd Company H, 1st Regiment, SC Volunteers Inf. CSA, enlisted Apr 15 1862 in Spartanburg,Sc, died Jul 14, 1863 in hospital in Richmond, VA. There were so many John Folwer's in the war, but think this is the right one, according to family lore, he only saw his newborn dau. Rebecca Jane just a few days before enlisting for service. She was born Apr 7 1862.
According to some researcher, say that Miriam died in Attala County. Have not found a grave though.
Where did you find the memorial for her by her children.
Thanks so much for your info and input.
|Wylodean Edwards||RE: John Lewis Fowler|
Thank you Mike. That is the correct John Fowler,
John and Miriam had only two children James and Rebecca Jane. John was killed in CSA. Miriam (Mary/Mary Ann) move to GA with her father and brothers and then on to Alabama, think that is where she met and married Nathaniel S William Nathaniel was born Aug 1845 in Al and died 9 Sept 1901 in Point Deluce, Arkansas county,Ark. He is buried there, Miriam came back to Attala County, MS and died 15 Aug 1915.

Tell me about Alice and John S McDowell? I have her as being married to Ephram McDowell.
|Brian Wagnon||RE: Thomas Wagnon|
My grandfather was Randall Wagnon, son of Thomas Jefferson Wagnon who was the son of Thomas Foreman Wagnon. I am currently working with the Goingsnake Historical Society to try to preserve Thomas F and Lucinda's grave site located just southeast of Baptist Mission north of Westville, OK. I am thinking that the historical significance of this family would be a bonus to trying to get the grant for the material needed to clear, clean up and fence the burial site. Thomas' contact with the Old Settler Cherokees could add to this. I am looking for primary source documents and any books or articles that may list them regarding the Wagnon family from contact with the Cherokees until around 1900 (when Thomas F was the steward at the Cherokee Nation Insane Asylum 1899-1901). Would love to collaborate and work alongside a fellow descendant. We are not separated by too many generations.
