Neither time or reason
Will change the way I feel.
Gone are the days
We used to share,
But in my heart
You are always there.
The gates of memories
Will never close.
I miss you more than
Anybody knows,
Love and miss you everyday
Till we meet again.

RE: Senyohl Family
Hi Cheryl,

It's nice to hear from you! I've very sorry to take so long in replying. John Leonard Senyohl was married to my Grandmother's sister (Bernice Milotte). I'm not familiar with Marie, but I will be most happy to let you know if I find something on her. Can you give me a little bit more information that I can keep watch for?

Best regards,

RE: Kitty Genovese
I didn't know that you were from Michigan. Not many people from that state ever heard of Kitty Genovese. Michigan is famous for the Motor City and the Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Did you ever hear of Dave Bing, who is the Mayor of Detroit? He was also a basketball star at Syracuse.

RE: ? about Family wishes.
The cemetery wouldn't give me Kitty's grave location, but I'm certain that other people located it. It's silly for a family to keep a grave spot a secret. When I was in Lakeview Cemetery, I spotted a tombstone that I'll never forget. There was a replica of a giant grizzly bear. I've been to many cemeteries, but that was the first time in my life that I saw a tombstone dedicated to a bear.

Lakeview Cemetery is right off the Merritt Parkway. I don't know if you live in the area, but there are many cemeteries in the region.

It's OK to use the photo and text for your research. I went to Lakeview Cemetery to photograph Kitty's headstone, but the personnel told me that the family didn't want the site given out. Also, Winston Moseley died in prison a few months ago at age 81.

RE: Poem
Hi Cheryl,

I love that poem. It really sums up why we search for our loved ones who've passed on. They truly are part of us all. The picture on my contributor page is my Grandmother and I've been lucky enough to inherit the necklace she's wearing. I feel especially close to her when I read that poem & see her picture.

Please feel free to use the poem on your page. I hope it brings you as much joy as it does me.

Best wishes,

RE: Start Family
I am not on Ancestry as far as sharing my research. Always willing to answer questions via email ( I have researched almost all the START family in the Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon county area going back to the mid 1860's and have made sure that most of the graves are on the Find A Grave site with family hyperlinks and photographs. Slagter family was limited to parents of Alice Slagter Start and Lucy Slagter Start (sisters), their parents, siblings and their families. I know there were a couple of Martin Slagters in this family with one that recently died this month. Feel free to share my email address with other researchers. I am also a volunteer photographer for Find A Grave and a member and volunteer researcher for Western Michigan Genealogy Society.

RE: Start Family
Are you referring to Julia Start, daughter of Gerrit and Lucy (Slagter) Start, buried in the Grandville Cemetery. Gerrit was my father's uncle. I have done a lot of research on that branch of the Slagter family. Do you have any specific questions?

RE: Steve Beregi
Hi, Cheryl,
I did some more research into the local marriage, births and deaths records and found some interesting things. There are some inconsistencies, which is not uncommon with records from those days.

There is no record of Steven's marriage.

According to birth records, Steven and a woman named Sara Gaczi had a daughter named Mary Beregi on December 1, 1907. (Corrected in 1941 from January 16, 1908)

According to death records, a 4-year-old Mary Beregi died. No parents are listed. The cause of death was meningitis. Date of death was March 25, 1907.

The headstone for Mariska Beregi is inscribed with Mariska Beregi / 1902-1907.

Interesting, isn't it?

Beregi family memorials
Hi Cheryl,
I have posted a picture for you on the Istvan Beregi memorial site. While searching cemetery records, I also found, as you can see from the photo, he had a wife Julia. Something I found that was interesting was the name Mariska Beregi, dates 1902-1907; a simple stone, probably hand made, and in an old section which contains a large number of child graves. I have not researched if this could have been Istvan and Julia's daughter, but it seems plausible. I will let you know what I find out.

In any case, and, if you would like, could you create Find a Grave memorials for Julia and Mariska?

Thank you,
p.s. These connections are why I am a photo volunteer. Thanks for he opportunity!
