I know what you mean about the stone! There are a ton of lichens growing on it. On my own relatives' stones, I wipe the lichens off after getting them wet, so they soften up. They come off fairly easily and it doesn't damage the stone.

I was hoping that you would reply. This cemetery has very poor record keeping and even the staff, who were present do not know what the area 1-3 means. They are in the process of creating a map, but in very early stages.
While my husband spoke with the staff, I just started shooting pictures along every row. If you ever get there, I shot the left hand side of the cemetery as you face it from the parking lot. There is a row of trees down the center and I shot from the trees to the fence.
Consecutively the photos were of Jack Bicktold (mortuary Grant) mortuary marker, John T. Bicktold stone marker died Dec 29, 1912 and third was the one I posted. It says Wife John BiGtold (mortuary _eller & Son)mortuary marker. There were no Bigtolds in the cemetery listing and she followed in line with other BiCKtolds. I made the assumption that she is the correct person. You might try contacting the mortuary for confirmation. Unfortunately, I was just walking along snapping shots and didn't notice that the mortuary was partially covered by the weed. Mortuary was _eller & Son. You may be able to figure it out.
I did not photo any Cross surnames. Best of luck.

I am very new at this and certainly do not understand all the complexities, but the burial marker, the spouse's name, and the children's names are Gillette. Quite clearly, his parents were using Gillett. Can you please give me some guidance on how the decision is made in a case like this? Thank you very much.

Burial marker indicates Gillette with a terminal "e."

I'm wondering if you could / or are in a position / or live near the grave of this person / to pull an obituary on her in Sheldon, O'Brien County, Iowa. I am trying to find out if her daughter Helena N. Slade is alive at her death, and if so, what her name is. This is what I have on her daughter Helena N. Slade:
Married John Howe Russell on December 25, 1902 in Lancaster County, Nebraska.
Divorced or annulled by June 3, 1905, when John Howe Russell married again.
1900 U. S. census: Ward 3, Red Oak Junction, Red Oak Township, Montgomery County, Iowa, USA.
1910 U. S. census: Ward 8, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, USA. Occupation: Stenographer, Office. Using last name Slade.
I'd like to find where Helena is buried and enter her on Find-A-Grave and link her to her family. I live in Michigan, so any help you could give me on this would be greatly appreciated.
