Bio

I love exploring cemeteries, and now that I'm on Find-A-Grave I bring my camera.

I shoot/index:
-- Names/people on my tree (or possibly on my tree)
-- Really old stones (died before 1900), especially if they look in fairly bad shape and I think I can get all the info off them
-- Neat-looking stones (I'm a font junkie)
-- Stones that seem to tell a story

... and then any other graves or markers associated with that one. I try to get the whole family grouping, because I can't tell you how many times I've found one member of a family plot indexed online and not all the others. Frustrating!

If a gravestone I have photographed is useful to you for historical or genealogical reasons, feel free to use my photo for nonprofit purposes, as long as you credit it to me by name.

If you are related to one of my memorials under Find-A-Grave's guidelines, I am happy to transfer its management to you. Please use the 'edit' link on the memorial so it tells me precisely who you were talking about, and include your relationship to the deceased.

When I know I'm going to a certain cemetery, I'll print off the list of photo-requests, but I don't exhaustively check every single stone: if I pass it and I notice it's a name on the list with an outstanding request, I'll fulfill it.

If you live in Chicago too and might like to go graving together, toss me an email!
