I got my start with Find A Grave almost 5 years ago, this August, 2016, when looking for Daddy. When I found he had not been added, I added him and his photograph. I then went to local cemeteries photographing headstones. It was exciting. I found a cemetery, by someone's request for a photo, that had not been photographed. There were about 98 to 150 people with photos on FAG, after I got done photographing the cemetery, there were almost 1000 people, now there are over 1000 people in there who have passed since I finished photographing it. I loved it. I wish I could go to all the cemeteries and fill them up with photos. Since starting with FAG, I've also found several funeral homes that have people in their obituaries that have not been added. When I find these FH's I will go to their oldest obit and start working my way to today's date adding memorials. Then someone finds them too, and that's ok. I agree with other memorialists everyone needs to be remembered.
Send your EDIT REQUESTS all you want. I will ignore all requests until I can find the information myself. My name is on the memorials so I will be checking too. So far I have had people trying to get me to change dates. The first time, if the dates don't match the obituary, I will then count it as an honest mistake. The next time I get wrong dates, I will forward the edit request to FAG as a fraudulent request and let them deal with you. Any other requests from you will be "DECLINED" as no change. I won't waste my time checking it out or giving you an explanation.
If you want a plot location added to a memorial, I manage, it will now be "DECLINED" unless you have a photo of the grave marker or some legal documentation that shows where it is located. I've received grave plot locations and now I'm starting to receive information that they were wrong. So from here on out, again, if you don't have a photo of the grave marker, then the plot location will be "DECLINED."
I will not be transferring any memorials outside the FAG guidelines; too many people are not updating the memorials outside of what I have already setup. I will not transfer to you if you are a cousin or 2nd cousin as you are not within the FAG transfer guidelines.
I give my permission for you to use my photos that I have taken of the headstones. However, please be kind enough to give credit where credit is due when using them in other places as Ancestry.com or if you are publishing them in a family book.
When giving me information, like parents, or children to connect to, if there is no bio and/or their names are not in the bio, you will need to provide source of information in your request. I won't link to anyone without proof especially if the name is common, ie: Smith, Johnson, etc....
