Bio

Back in 1950 I took a trip with my parents and grandparents from Michigan to California. We stopped at Fort Supply, Oklahoma, where my grandparents once had a homestead. Before we got there, we stopped in Woodward to freshen up a bit, and my grandfather asked my father if he would mind if we stopped to see his aunt?
My father said sure, where does she live? He said I don't know, but if we ask that news boy on the corner, he will know. So, we did and he told us where she lived. All I remember is that her name was Mrs. Hickok and we visited with her for over an hour. She served us lemonade and made many comments about how she thought a lot of "Bill" and told a lot of stories about him.
When we left, I asked my grandfather if she was talking about "Wild Bill" Hickok and he said yes.
I was young then and didn't think to ask questions.
So, that is how I got my start in research for family history. I still haven't found out for sure who she was.
Later, I became a Sgt. in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, got married and raised a family, moved to California, worked at Hughes Aircraft Co. until I retired in 1985, without much time for research. In my later years I have renewed my interest in the subject.
I would appreciate any related information on the Hickok family.
