And through my father, I'm descended from Elizabeth Fones, niece of John Winthrop, first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. I'm a member of the Mayflower Society, the Sons of the American Revolution, Society of the War of 1812, and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
