Bio

I got into genealogy because of my dad. For me, it started because of the links I found between my family history and that of our nation.

Find-A-Grave started out as a simple search engine for me, but has since become so much more. I am currently trying to work with or assume management of family memorials.

My goal is to link memorials, add family members and update bio/obituaries.

Some of my focus is to find family members in Robeson County, North Carolina and Macon County, Missouri. Further, my historical focus is that of the American Civil War; my family has a number of Civil War veterans, and I am looking to update their biographies to reflect their service.

Over the past several months, I have been really tied into learning more about two relatives in two different Civil War Regiments; First the 9th New York Heavy Artillery and second the 78th Illinois Infantry had heavy action, particularly in 1864 and 1865. I have been working on a roster for both regiments, learning strength levels through the war, and trying to understand more about their individual experiences. This comes full circle with Find A Grave, as I tie each of the service members, who died during the war, to their graves. As I do this, I have been trying to contribute additional information to the memorials.
