I have been researching all the family lines that run into my line for with each daughter there is a new last name. It has surprised how some names have crossed that lead back to me. One of my research tools are the Newspaper Obituaries for they tell me about that person's life to where it is not just a name on a tombstone. The father back you go you might have an ancestor whose tombstone has been destroyed or just plain don't have one. Because I am paralyzed to where I have to have someone with me 24 hours a day and if I could I would look for Graves but I can't.

I must admit when I started researching my family lines I did not know that I would have a rewarding experience reading their Obituaries or Wills. You learn so much about who they were and it becomes personal.

Find A Grave has brought the cemeteries to life and I must confess if all I wanted was to see names with dates I would go to the cemetery. Find A Grave is a Living Memorial to the person that his buried there. I must confess when someone is cremated the Obituary doesn't mention what was done with the ashes.

What saddens me the most when a land developers goes in and removes the stones and piling them up in one lump some not bothering to make a note of their names or dates.

PELZER AND WEST PELZER ARE BOTH IN ANDERSON COUNTY BUT MANY ZIP CODES CAN PUT THEIR MAILING ADDRESS WITH GREENVILLE COUNTY. EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY RECEIVE MAIL THROUGH GREENVILLE COUNTY DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THEY ACTUALLY LIVE IN ANDERSON COUNTY.

In South Carolina 1915 was when the state started keeping records of marriage, death and birth records and before that family bible records kept up with that information. Anyone who is researhing in Greenville County the Greenville County Library has an online obituary index for the Greenville News. South Carolina doesn't release the actual death certificate to the public until 50 years after the death and for birth records it is 100 years. Sometimes when a woman remarries with a different last name but when she is buried it is with a stone that was put in place before her first husband died. Usually just the date of death is filled in not the name change.
There have been examples like a members of one of my family link whose wife and daughter died much earlier and placed in a small mill cemetery but before the husband died he had the stone moved with all the names on it and moved to a different cemetery. Maybe I am wrong but I don't believe he had the bodies moved. These are some of my interesting. I try too keep a open mind.
