I first joined Find-A-Grave back in 1996 before it became such a rousing success! That was back when this site was used for well known, public figures! I've been a member of Ancestry.com for a dozen years but got away from here. Re-joined a few years ago and I have been trying to add to and connect to people from my ancestral past! Please drop me a line if you have info regarding my ancestors or if you need help in connecting!
RE: Photo request Thanks so much Ed. Millard was my father and it took 59 years to find him. I was adopted as a baby and through Ancestry DNA I was able to make the connection. I appreciate your helping me with my request as there is no one left in his family.
RE: Photo request Dear Edward, I'm sorry about that, but it wasn't from me. Must've been a request from Find-A-Grave. You may want to disable email notifications about photo requests. I realize this is all volunteer on our part. Take care, Grace
RE: Jane Bovard Barker If one of my memorials does not have a photo of a cemetery marker then the information came from an OBIT. This one does not have a marker. You said you changed the death year. Were you positive of the year? That said I cannot possibly check ALL the data that people send me so I have to go with what they send ... unless it is my family which Jane is not. What year was listed before you changed it. I can see if I can relocate the OBIT. Also would you like a transfer.
You've been an Find A Grave volunteer for 38 months and have only created 38 memorials. Yet you manage 3 times that number of memorial. You couldn't find a little time in the last 38 months to create a few memorials for other people to use? It's painfully obvious from you statistics, that you are relying on the good will of other volunteers to do the leg work for you.
Maybe you should try "paying it forward" before you demand a transfer someone who spends thousands of hours volunteering on this site.
I have over 9,000 relatives in my family tree, and I've never demanded that anyone transfer a memorial to me. Can you imagine the pissing contest if I took your attitude towards all of the volunteers that have created memorials for my relatives? Instead, I trust in their competency and integrity to complete edit requests and SACs in a timely and accurate manner.
You should try using Virtual Cemeteries for the purpose they were intended.
If you put as much effort into volunteering as you do into whining when you don't get your way, you might earn some respect.
