RE: Wm B Rishell question on wife and child
How lovely for you. I hope the weather is good for your trip.. I'm excited about finally getting Miss Mary Amanda's family fitted into the branches of my dad's Crawford family.
I never knew when I was growing up that we ever had any family that wasn't Scots-Irish; it wasn't something to talk about 'Oh by the way, my grand-mother was German' not a good subject after WW2.
What I think is 'kewl but strange' is that the Winter Galley seems to have brought over the Rischel/Rishell family on my great grandfather's side AND some of my husband's Boyer/Beir's too??!!
Small World indeed!!
Again, have a good trip and I look forward to hearing from you later..

Wm B Rishell question on wife and child
Hello Scott,
I hope you may be able to help in my quest..I have been looking for my grandfather(James Elliot Crawford)'s mother off and on for sometime and after seeing what you have added for Wm Boyd Rishell--81468596, and his wife Catherine Lyons--31866025; compared it with what I see in Ancestry.com, I'm wondering if these 2 might be her parents??
The little bit I have(death cert. and wedding lic. on their kids) shows that Mary Amanda Rishell married my great-grandfather Samuel Matthew Crawford Jr. They had a bunch of
littles and both of them are buried in the Beechwoods Cemetery in Jefferson CO. Pennsylvania, along with the majority of the children--minus the ones who I have tracked to Colorado etc;-)
The census records have a Mary A listed as Wm and Catherine's last child living at home when she was 23. I have lost track of this Mary after that. If she is the young lady who married my great-grandfather, I cannot verify it yet....
I did find the census with Wm Boyd Rishell living with his elder daughter Catherine Wainwright, his age is late 70's but I don't see his wife around.
(You might get a chuckle out of one tree someone put on Ancestry for Wm Boyd; makes it look that he lived to be over 100--oops, can we say 'date of birth miss-print'?--I know, easy to do; someone has my mother dying 20 years before she did and that my husband's grandmother died before he was born--but I talked to her and not with a 'wee-jee' board;-)
Sorry to ramble; but if you have ever seen or heard of this possibility for Mary Amanda; I would much appreciate anything you may add..
BTW, are you related to this Rishell family somehow? or do you like to follow different branches for ones you stumble upon? as I will sometimes?
Whichever it is; thanks for everything you do for Find A Grave, it helps so many

Thanks in advance

Genealogy
Greetings:
I am trying to learn more about my family history and as much as I know right now on my mother's side of the family the line goes back to Louisa Shackleton whom was born July 1869 in Canada and was the child of Benjamin Shackleton and Mary Desmond. I was wondering if this was the same Mary Desmond as the grave you are honoring here, please? If so can you give me any more information on this person (i.e. her parents, when she married Benjamin)? Thank you and take care.

sincerely,
Mildred Carr
