I am intrigued with researching my ancestors and enjoy helping others with their research as well. I grew up in California and Arizona and moved to northwestern Arkansas in 1984. When I began researching, I was very surprised to learn my grandfather (whom I had never met) was born in Washington County, Arkansas, and then moved to the Oklahoma City area. From then on I was hooked on genealogy research.|

Thank you. It was interesting doing the research. I learned a lot about old records by doing it. I am a founding member of the Georgia Flat Cemetery Association. It was formed a few years ago when Reece Buffer's girls were asking for help clean up the cemetery. They had ask a neighbor lady, Nancy Feroe to help them form an Association. For reason of their own the girls are no longer members but since the association was formed a lot of work has went into it. Nancy is actually a historian in her own rights. She is into a lot of things dealing with the history of Benton County and she had a lot of the information she taught me how to dig up the rest. It has been interesting and fun to do.

It is truly a small world. That is neat. I don't get to visit them much. But Bev is my cousin.

You said you are married to Joe Hook. Are you Alyssa Buffer's step mother?

I talked to my great aunt yesterday. She said she remembers when her dad died but she never heard from anyone in her family that said it was Christmas Day. I think the handwriting on his death certificate looks like Dec. 28th. His death certificate also gives his age as 73 years 6 months and 11 days and that he was born June 18, 1854 in Oregon City which doesn't add up. My great aunt told me in the past that he was born on the Pudding River near Champoeg. I have a copy of my great great grandmother's Oregon Donation Land Claim. A coupled of years ago my great aunt and I went searching for the property described in the "DLC" and discovered that the "DLC" was on either side of the Willamette River at what is now Wilsonville, Clackamas County, Oregon and "as I remember" the land may have included part of the Molalla River State Park that is there.

Hi, Ellie -
I am the great granddaughter of Jasper Newton and I have a copy of his Oregon death cert also and it is a little unclear. I just called and left a voice mail for my great aunt Lela Lesley who is Jasper Newton "Newt" Lesley's only living daughter. I will confirm with her what day he died.
I have William Amos Lesley and Iva Myrtle Semans in my family tree with a daughter Maybella born circa 1917. Is she your husband's mother Mabel Genevieve Lesley?
I am an avid FindAGrave contributor and have researched and added many of the Lesley-Leslie family to FindAGrave and tried to link many of them. You can follow the Lesley/Leslie family through the links in Jasper Newton Lesley's memorial back to William Robert Lesley who died circa 1802 in Pike County, Kentucky. My great aunt and I went to The Lesley-Leslie family reunion in Pike County about 5 years ago.
I'll get back to you:)

"Newt" Lesley was my great grandfather. He died 20 years before I was born. I looked at his Certificate of Death and it looks like it was " Dec. 28th" but it could be "Dec. 25th". I will check with his only living daughter who is my great aunt and see if she knows. She was only 4 years old when he died. Are you related?
