I am a descendant of the French family that had its roots in a valley that in my youth was named Poor in Tazewell County, Virginia. The valley if located in the western part of Virginia near the town of Saltville. It is the counties of Tazewell, Giles, Smyth, Grayson, and Carroll that carry much interest in my work to learn more about the French and Stoneman family.

I currently live in Lexington VA in the southern end of the Shenandoah valley where I am now retired.
