Bio

I live in Ellijay, Georgia (Gilmer County) and am disabled but still mobile on 'good days'. My cousin and I are very close, and she is also disabled. One of our favorite things to do is to put a little gas in the car (She can't drive anymore, and I can't drive alone so it works out great for us) and just go for rides in this beautiful mountain area of Georgia that we were raised in.

That's why I thought volunteering to contribute photos would be a good way to help contribute to this site. I know that she and I have such a difficult time visiting the gravesites of loved ones far away (actually we can't) and now realize that in some way we can help others like us be able to 'visit' their loved ones that are near to us. Whether it's simply to see where their family is buried or for geneological reasons, in our own small way we can help AND it allows us to visit our own loved ones gravesides while we're there.

We both used to love doing grave etchings, too, and I have many family members in an old Confederate Cemetery where the markers are so worn that etchings are the only way to read anything at all on the headstone, so it's fascinating to me to learn my own family history, too.

I hope we'll be able to contribute many photos now that warmer weather has arrived here in Georgia!
