RE: Rosa and Sam Also Cassius, and Mary Burkett. Hello Dawn. Samuel S. Truitt 1871-1925 Rosa G. Burkett Truitt 1871-1925 Their only son... Cassius Clay Truitt 1894-1918 ( he died in the war ) And her mother ( rosa was the younger sister of Terzy) Mary E. isom Burkett All are in the Truitt plot in little old north Dexter cemetery, Texas. We not only went to the gravesite with my husbands mother last year, we cleaned it up, and placed flowers. The family mystery is where Terzy is buried. Now....Florence is my husbands grandmother. She and her children, Bobby, Betty and Joyce , and new hubby Lester Dobbs moved to Biggs California. Florence and Lester are indeed buried there. We have many photos of rosa, and the house in whitesboro.texas. And several of a large Truitt family. Dave's ( hubby) mother had a stroke back in 2009 and some names and info are hard to get, so her memory of them is sketchy. But not gone. But she can't remember them all! We were hoping someone out there knew of Sam and rosa... Maybe to locate more of Rosa's history. Thanks! Freda ( the daughter in law)
Rosa and Sam Also Cassius, and Mary Burkett. My grandmother was raised by Rosa and Sam. Rosa's sister Thirza ( Terzy) died months after birth of her fifth child. Eventually she was given to them to raise her. She became their " daughter". Florence. My grandmother lived with Rosa until she married. And later after three children, and a divorce, returned. So, my mother was also living there. After Rosa's death, and a new marriage they moved to California. Where Florence is buried. My mother is indeed very much alive, and we are seeking any information out there about Rosa's family. We know her parents are Daniel Calvin Burkett. And Mary E. Isom Burkett. We know that her mother is in the Truitt plot at north Dexter cemetery. Also, we have a few Truitt photos, but names are not known. Dave Adams
Charles E. Truitt I've added a newspaper article to the Find A Grave memorial for Charles E. Truitt that I found among my great uncle's papers. Just thought I would let you know in case you had not ever seen it. Donna Maines
Coates The link has been made for the Coates edit that you kindly provided. It would be my pleasure to transfer the memorial since I am not related. Please let me know if you would care to maintain it.
I am researching my mother's branch of the family, which are Truitt's. My 3rd G Grandparents are Lemuel C Truitt and Clarissa Broughton, originally from Maryland and settling in Noble, Illinois. I am particularly interested in any information on earlier ancestors.
