Fallen Graver

Sadly, Kevin D. has passed away. Please consider visiting their Find a Grave memorial page and leaving some virtual flowers. Their enthusiasm for cemeteries and willingness to help future generations lives on through their contributions to Find a Grave.

Bio

I grew up in the hills north of Winkler in rural Riley County, KS, on the farm my great grandfather homesteaded starting in 1881. I went to school at Randolph and, after living in Manhattan for about 25 years, have moved with my family back to the farm (much to the dismay of my wife).

I became interested in genealogy, because I am the last one in my branch of the family to carry on our name. I did not know if anyone else in another branch was keeping track of our lineage, so I decided I needed to lest it be lost to the ages.

A coworker told me about Find A Grave, and when I first pulled it up, I could not believe the amount of information that was available. I found it invaluable for tracking down names and dates for my family.

When my dad passed away, I guess my own mortality became apparent to me, so I got more interested in contributing information. Hopefully, long-lost relatives and future generations can use the website to help keep track of their heritage.

I am not related to some of the people for whom I have created memorials or for whose memorials I care for, so if you are related, please request a transfer. I would much rather they be cared for by a relative.

I am not one of those people who pontificates the official Find A Grave rules on which relatives can and can't be transferred. I figure it's first come first served, and you can fight it out amongst yourselves.
