I was born in Crockett, Houston County, Texas, where I grew up among my family and friends. I am a fifth generation Texan.

Upon graduation from high school, I entered the University of Texas in Austin, Texas where I enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and studied Spanish and history. I graduated from UT in 1972 and moved to Houston. I am a third generation UT alum.

I retired from public education in 2009 after 32 years experience and now devote most of my time to family and travel. I am currently applying for membership in the local chapter of the DAR in Katy, Texas where I've lived for 30 years.
