Over the past few years, I have been researching my ancestry, trying to find my roots in Quebec, Acadia, and New England. My ancestors came from France, Scotland, England, Ireland, and Bavaria. I also have three Acadian Mi'kmaq great grandmothers (quite a few generations back) who married settlers from France in Nova Scotia. I have SO enjoyed learning about the lives of my ancestors! This photo was taken in Saint Ephrem, Quebec, where many Gagne family members had lived for several generations before moving to New England. Countless family christenings, marriages, and funerals had taken place in that church, and I felt absolute awe visiting this town where so many of my ancestors had lived and died. I have many more such visits to make to other towns, churches, and cemeteries!
