I have been interested in family history (mine and any one else's) for as long as I can remember but actively started researching my husband's ancestors in Maine in the early 1990's. We moved to Maine not knowing that many of his family lines originated here. My specific interests are the Mitchells, mainly the Mitchells of Georgetown/Bath and Leeds. My wish is that I will solve the mystery of who were the parents of Thomas and Joseph Mitchell of Leeds? I have my own ideas. Most of what is published has been proven wrong. Other family names include Lemont, Jacobs, Gilbert, Getchell. I used to do volunteer look-ups for people living away from this area but then life got too busy. Makes you feel like Santa Claus!
I'm not connected to most of the memorials I have created. I will transfer out of Find a Grave guidelines unless it is my own family or a family I am actively researching. Please follow Find a Grave rules/guidelines concerning photos posted, flowers added etc. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you have about a memorial. I love to work with other researchers. If you send an edit please use the edit tab.
RE: Maguire graves Hi Christine! Thanks for your note. I'm not related to the Maguires. I will happily transfer any memorials to you that you require. My only link is County Louth. I have Coulter and Hamilton ancestors from the county. I've visited Ireland only once, but would love to go back to do more research. Please let me know if I can help you. Cheers! --Lainey
Allen memorials Hi, Chris! I updated all dates of death (month/year) for all the Allen memorials I created in Holy Name Cemetery. Hope this makes things easier for you if you are doing research. If you want any transfers just let me know. I'm not one of those anal idiots who won't transfer out of guidelines. LOL Ron
Re: McHugh in Norwood, MA Hi I have posted the photos that I took for the John L. McHugh memorial. I have thousands of photos to post, it just takes so much longer to post them for each memorial once I create the memorial. Closer inspection shows the initial should be J. not L. I have corrected it. Thanks for the correction.
RE: Helen Robbins Snyder Smith Since it's on the church grounds and many cemeteries have either columbariums or memorial gardens on their grounds and don't have a separate listing, I wouldn't create a separate listing for Setauket.
Have you ever submitted a description to a cemetery page? I think that would be a good place to add the info you're describing and the differences in the burials.
If you need help with this let me know. I've done it before. :)
RE: Helen Robbins Snyder Smith Hi there. As far as I can tell, that is the only correct listing for Setauket Presbyterian Church. There are a couple of other "Cemeteries in Setauket" that are listed here (and I'm using the term loosely), but they aren't mapped and after doing a google search, it doesn't appear these other churches actually have a burial ground or any type of cemetery or even a memorial garden. (I did a double check to make sure I was using the correct listing as well.)
So I think if you have Setauket Presbyterian as the final resting place, the one I've used for Helen Smith would be the correct listing.
I hope this helps and please feel free to message me if you think I can help with anything. Bless you for the work you're doing and trying to keep this website as accurate as possible.
RE: Saywards Thank you very much for the transfers. I have them corrected and connected. Kate Varney Sayward was actually married 3 times, one of the the same as her maiden name Varney....gets confusing. At least all of her six children were by John Henry Sayward. Again, thank you for the transfers. Suki Sayward Davey
