Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been taking pictures since I was a child. I started out using my Mom's old box camera. I used her old Brownie camera for awhile too. In 1990, I bought a Pentax K 1000 then when my grandson graduated high school, I bought a digital camera. I still have the Pentax & get it out once in awhile to take pictures. It's a good camera & I can do a few things with it that I haven't mastered with the digital.

I love taking pictures (got that from my Dad). In recent years, my hands are not as steady so I don't take as many pictures as I used to. I tell people that's why I take photos of headstones - they don't move around, you don't have to pose them, etc. LOL! Flowers are a good subject too!

Anyway, retirement & taking pictures are a good match! I also do genealogy, paint-by-numbers, volunteer at my church - I keep busy which is good. Have a good one!

RE: John S.Sinky
Mary,

The information on the parent's name is not correct. John Sinskey had changed his name to Sinskey when he came to the US. His father's name was Scieszinski or a derivative of Scieszinski. Not certain if or how much the Scieszinski name was altered by his brother Anistasia when he emigrated to the US. It appears that the father's name in the record was recorded incorrectly.

RE: Memorial # 8154306 Andrew Goudy
Thanks for catching this. It is a typo on my part because my records show she was born 16 Aug 1847 in Ottumwa. I'll make the change. Thanks again!!! Jack (Dimmitt) McLaughlin

Hi Mary,

I believe the reference on FamilySearch.com - "John's parents are John Sinskey Sr. & Mary Thomas Sinskey, both from Germany" - is for a different John Sinskey than memorial#97402083.

RE: John Sinskey
Thank you! I have requested information to be added for Johanna and Rolly and for Johanna to be linked to her parents. Hopefully the changes are in process. Really appreciate your input and help.

RE: John Sinskey

His wife's name was Elizabeth "Lizzie" Pambourine.
She died January 3, 1934 in Ottumwa but I haven't been able to find her obit.
