I have spent over 20 years hunting and gathering genealogy maternal and paternal. Since I retired three years ago I spend an average of 8 hours a day digging up bones. It is particularly satisfying when I find a living descendant who never knew much about their family and are excited to share information with me.
I have utilized find a grave for several years and realized that a lot of my family were not to be found and even if they were listed I had more to tell. I particularly enjoy linking the family members in a cemetary together.
Some people think I'm obsessed and maybe I am but I have built a history book for my children that will leave no doubt about where they came from. That is the first item on my bucket list and I'll probably never get to check it off !
