Member & Secretary of the Vauxhall Cemetery Committee. I have photographed all the headstones at the Vauxhall Cemetery and have catalogued those headstones and burial plots. If I can be of any assistance in photographing any of the Southern Alberta Cemeteries please contact me and I will try to accomodate you. If I have made any mistakes in my entries, please contact me and I will correct the errors or make transfers.
As I walk through Cemeteries I sometimes fantasize about my ancestors and those long gone, what their lives must have been like, the losses, & hardships they may have suffered, The happiness of a simple life back then. This poem says it all.
Dear Ancestor, Your Tombstone stands among the rest, Neglected and alone. The name and dates are chiseled here, On polished marbled stone. It reaches out to all who care, Though it is too late to mourn. You do not know that I exist, You died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you, In flesh, in blood, and bone. The place you filled so many years ago, I wonder if you could have known, Would spread among the ones you left In all the seeds you've sown. I wonder if you lived and loved? I wonder if you ever knew? That someday I would find you in this spot, And come to visit you?
William (Bill) Fletcher Thank-you for letting me know you had already done a memorial to my Uncle Bill. I did not think to check. I have very fond memories of him and my Aunt Betty. I also love the photo's of their Headstone. My apologies for taking this long to respond.
Charles Rawleigh Thank you so much Kathie for finding Charles in the Cessford Cemetery for me. I appreciate the time and effort that you made to do this. Thank you also for all your work on Find A Grave helping others. Have a great day.
