I am on the Ringgold County Pioneer Cemetery Commission. Over the past 10 years the commission meticulously restored many of our 30+ pioneer cemeteries. We restore stones to their original upright condition or replace stones that are too badly damaged. We clear out trees and old fence lines and install new fences with new gates that have the name of the cemetery made into them. We have spent over $100,000 to restore our pioneer cemeteries in these past 10 years.

I have been photographing every grave in every cemetery in Ringgold county. I'm not quite halfway done. My completed work so far can be seen at iowagravestones.org. If you want a photo posted here submit a photo request or just ask me. I enjoy helping other people but I don't like it when my work gets stolen.

If I can't read the photo I go back to the cemetery and transcribe the stone. Sometimes I will be on my hands and knees with my face a few inches from the stone to transcribe it. I am confident in my transcriptions (I'm a perfectionist) and I don't like making mistakes.

I have no problem transferring memorials for people of which I'm not related. I'm not a memorial hoarder like some people on this site.
