Hi All,

I have received many requests in my area, so many that I am having trouble, in my opinion, fulfilling by responsibilities as a volunteer. Because of this I am putting on hold my volunteering status. I will only be on hold for as long as it takes me to fulfill the requests that I already have & then I will accept more. I always take the complete, current listings of requests when I go to any cemetery; but I do fulfill the request that have been sent to me first.

For those of you who have sent me requests for the Alton (Lovejoy) Cemetery in Alton, IL it will take me some time & you will have to bear with. The city is an old riverboat town situated along the bluffs of the Mississippi River. It is a large, old, hilly cemetery with a lot of gravestones. I have maps of it with the sections plotted out on them but they aren't a lot of help. The problem is you can't tell where one plot area starts andor ends when actually there. I'm not bad mouthing the cemetery; because it is the size, age, number of interments and lay of the land that makes it, not only a really neat cemetery, but a hard one to navigate through. It is very well maintained and is in great condition except for the hills and shifting plot boundary stones. You can rest assured it is taken care of is that part of this cemetery is a national cemetery so the Fed Gov., Cemetery Board and City of Alton is going to make sure.

I'm interested in being a photo volunteer for 62035(Godfrey, IL), 62002 (Alton, IL) or that general area. If the gravesite is a little farther out I would be glad to discuss the matter by email & I will try to help out.
